A state employee from Rajasthan was apprehended in Jaisalmer under suspicion of espionage for Pakistan, according to an official announcement made on May 29.

Shakur Khan was taken into custody on Wednesday evening by a team from the intelligence department, who were responding to security-related information, news agency PTI reported.

Khan, employed at the district employment office, reportedly had phone numbers linked to Pakistan saved on his device, the official told the news agency.

"There were indications suggesting that Shakur Khan might be involved in espionage activities for Pakistan. Following these inputs, he was placed under surveillance and subsequently detained last night," PTI quoted the official as saying.

After a joint interrogation session in Jaisalmer, the team proceeded to Jaipur with Khan. He is set to be interrogated by central agencies in Jaipur.
