New Delhi: With the national capital struggling with air pollution, Union environment minister Bhupender Yadav on Wednesday held a high-level review meeting, directing all stakeholder states and authorities to submit the 2026 annual action plans by December-end. The stakeholders were directed to submit the plans complete with weekly and monthly targets across eight categories ranging from road repair and dust control to boosting public transport and industry compliance to emission standards.

Yadav stressed the need for "high quality implementation" and "visible, on-ground improvements". He asked Delhi officials to ensure end-to-end road paving and "intensive on-ground monitoring" of ongoing works in the Capital besides the need for expedited deployment of mechanical road sweeper machines.

The Delhi government was also asked to focus on 62 identified traffic hotspots which urgently require smart traffic management solutions by police besides the need for special police deployment during peak traffic hours.
