Mumbai: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke on Tuesday said that if Jantar Mantar was shut for protesters, then they would turn the entire country into a protest site. Dipke claimed that protests would continue at Jantar Mantar despite Delhi Police denotifying it as a protest site.

"Ashutosh Ranka, Saurav Das and other CJP leaders were detained today for flying the tricolour at Jantar Mantar. Flying the tricolour is not a violation, this is autocracy. Jantar Mantar is not anyone's personal property. The entire country will resemble Jantar Mantar if protests are not allowed there. We will not stop till chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar resigns," Dipke told reporters in Hingoli on Tuesday.

Dipke alleged Delhi Police had been threatening to detain lawyers who had gone to meet Ranka, Das and other CJP cadres who were detained after Tuesday's protests. "They could allow lawyers to meet, what are you afraid of? Today journalists, Opposition MPs, students, everyone is getting detained. The country is not being run by the Constitution," Dipke claimed.

The CJP founder took aim at the Supreme Court, saying it has not taken any action against ECI. "Whether it is CJI (Chief Justice of India) or the Supreme Court... He (Surya Kant) had recently said that law and order is not the responsibility of the court. They have not taken any action against the Election Commission. When votes were deleted in Bengal, they said it's alright if you can't vote now, you can vote later. Will the Supreme Court say the same thing to Narendra Modi that you do not fight elections now but can fight later? If you can't say to him, then how can you say to the people?"

DIPKE HAILS OPPN PROTEST

Lauding the Opposition for the protests in Delhi on Monday, the CJP leader said it was necessary to 'stay united' and carry out such protests until CEC resigns.
