The Supreme Court on Tuesday warned the AAP-led Delhi government to ensure "complete compliance" of court directions about allocation of funds for the Regional Rapid Transport System (RRTS).

A division bench headed by justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul verbally remarked that "there can be no question of partial compliance". The observation was made after the bench was informed that the Delhi government, contrary to court direction, had only disbursed a portion of funds for the project.

The counsel appearing for the Delhi government informed that ₹415 crore have been transferred. Adjourning the matter to December 7 for resumed hearing, the SC said that an amount of ₹415 crore as per a sanction order has been released. "But it may not have been credited to the account of National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC). However, the sanction order itself states that it is in partial compliance. There can be no question of partial compliance. Complete compliance must take place per the schedule," the bench ordered.

Before adjourning the matter, justice Kaul verbally remarked that the "problem" is that the Delhi government has to be "arm-twisted to pay money" that it is "liable to pay".
