In Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, what began as a routine visit by power department officials to collect overdue electricity bills escalated into a violent confrontation on Thursday evening. A family residing in Gyan Lok colony unleashed chaos upon the visiting team from Pashchimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (PVVNL), including junior engineer Jyoti Bhaskar Sinha and other officials, according to a Times of India report.

PVVNL officials had come to Rajendra Chaudhary's house to recover a pending bill exceeding Rs 3.5 lakh. However, rather than settling the bill, the officials said, the family resorted to violence. They attacked the officials with sticks and released their formidable German Shepherd and Labrador dogs on the team. To make matters worse, the family brandished a gun, forcing the power department team to retreat.

During the altercation, Sinha sustained injuries from both the dog attack and the physical beating with sticks, while his colleagues suffered minor injuries. Sinha recounted the incident, stating that the family not only refused to pay the dues amounting to Rs 3.57 lakh but also engaged in verbal abuse and physical violence.

"We had asked the family to pay the dues to the tune of Rs 3.57 lakh, but instead they started abusing us and got into a brawl with my team. That is when Vishal and his friend unleashed their pet dogs on us. They pounced on me and bit my hand. As I fell, the family attacked me with sticks and iron rods, leaving bruises and injuries all over my back. They even chased us with a gun in hand," junior engineer Jyoti Bhaskar Sinha told Times of India.

SP (city) Surendra Nath Tiwari said that an FIR had been registered at Bulandshahr police station. The charges include IPC Sections 289 (negligent conduct with respect to animals), 323 and 324 (voluntarily causing hurt), and 504 and 506 (criminal intimidation) against the family and the unidentified accomplice. Law enforcement teams are actively pursuing the accused, who are currently evading capture.
