Enterprises could defend and secure themselves by applying artificial intelligence (AI) effectively, as cyber frauds including phishing, are rising at a phenomenal pace, a top executive of an information security multinational said.

“Today, artificial intelligence (AI) can identify a needle in the haystack. Companies can use tools and if any organization employs AI effectively, they can protect and defend themselves very well,” Dharshan Shanthamurthy, Founder and chief executive of SISA, told ET.

SISA is a Bengaluru-based, forensic-driven cybersecurity provider with a focus on payment security.

Shanthamurthy further said that frauds would continue to increase, and cybersecurity itself is being disrupted because of new threat factors.

“Today, the trends suggest an increase in AI and quantum hardware security flaws.”

The current cybersecurity landscape is undergoing a structural shift with AI empowering cyberattacks, the rise of quantum computing, and the proliferation of insecure Internet of Things (IoT) devices.

Experts say that agentic AI bots are deployed to scan networks to identify vulnerabilities and exploit defense capabilities as well as AI enabling highly customised phishing attacks and deepfakes, making detection increasingly difficult.

The payment ecosystem worldwide is currently experiencing robust growth and is expected to surpass $2.4 trillion in revenue by 2029. Meanwhile, industry estimates suggest the cybersecurity market will likely grow to $351.9 billion by 2030.

SISA executive further said that the company is willing to acquire a startup with an innovative offering as the company has transformed into a multi-solution cybersecurity multinational.

The homegrown company is operational across 12 countries and employs more than 600 individuals.
