Earthquake of magnitude 5.4 strikes Andaman Islands

An earthquake of magnitude 5.4 struck Andaman Sea on Sunday, as per the National Center for Seismology. The tremmors struck at 12:06 IST with a depth of 90 km

However, the German Research Centre for Geosciences, GFZ, reported that the magnitude of the earthquake was 6.07 with a depth of 10 km.

The tremor was felt in parts of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, but there was no immediate report of any loss of life or damage to property, an official told PTI.


So far, the authorities have not reported any damage to life and property on the islands.
