An earthquake of a magnitude 4.3 jolted Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand on Tuesday, the National Centre for Seismology said in a post on X.

"Earthquake of Magnitude:4.3, Occurred on 03-10-2023, 17:04:13 IST, Lat: 29.42 & Long: 81.18, Depth: 10 Km ,Location: 94km E of Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand, India," the post read.


Earlier today, twin earthquakes hit western Nepal of magnitude 6.2 and 4.6 on the Richter Scale, with tremors felt in large parts of India, including the National Capital Region (NCR) and Uttarakhand. No loss of life or property was reported.


"The earthquake hit western Nepal, which is a zone near our Uttarakhand region. This was a 6.2 magnitude earthquake which was at a shallow depth of 5 km. We have recorded two aftershocks. In the Delhi region, the magnitude was 3. We have received responses from people We have received responses from people that it was felt in Uttarakhand, Punjab, Delhi, Lucknow region, Jaipur region," said Sanjay Kumar, a scientist from NCS.

People felt tremors earlier this afternoon in NCR following which they rushed out of their offices and buildings.
