"We experiment first for years and only then accept the policy. There is no problem in the quality. Companies like Toyota, Hyundai, Tata, Mahindra, Bajaj, Honda have all issued clarifications," Gadkari said at the 65th ACMA Annual Session 2025 , adding that they had received no complaints so far.
Reiterating his stance on the E20 fuel, Gadkari said that the fuel is beneficial for the farmers and is in the interest of the people as it reduces cost as well as the country's imports.
On Thursday, the minister had alleged that the social media campaign against E20 fuel was paid and politically motivated to target him.
Gadkari said that E20 fuel is an import substitute, cost effective, pollution free and indigenous. "Rs 22 lakh crore worth fossil fuel is being imported. The Prime Minister dreams of Indian production," Gadkari had said.
"We decided to make ethanol from corn. This has profited farmers with Rs 45,000 crore. The rate of per quintal of corn has risen from Rs 1,200 to Rs 2,800," the minister had said.
