Iran's consulate general in Mumbai shared the information on X following the meeting on Wednesday. "Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, met and held talks with Pavan Kapoor, Deputy National Security Adviser of the Republic of India," it said in a post on X. Kapoor also met his counterpart in Tehran.
India is keeping its ties with Iran afloat amid geopolitical tensions given its strategic interests there. Last week, India voted against a United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) resolution that pulled up Iran for its crackdown against the recent anti-government protests.
While 25 members of the council voted in favour of the resolution, 14 abstained. Seven, including India, China, Cuba and Vietnam, opposed it.
