A tragic road accident occurred late Thursday night in Vadodara's Karelibag area, resulting in one death and several injuries after a drunk driver crashed his car into multiple vehicles. The horrifying incident, captured on CCTV, has sparked outrage due to the driver's erratic behaviour following the crash.

The accident took place near the busy Amrapali Chaar Rasta intersection. Eyewitnesses and CCTV footage revealed that the driver, speeding in a black car, lost control and struck a two-wheeler, and caused a chain reaction that injured several bystanders.

One woman, identified as Hemaliben Patel, died at the scene. In addition, three to four other individuals were seriously injured, including a 12-year-old girl, Nishaben (35), an unidentified 10-year-old, and a 40-year-old man. Emergency services rushed the injured to a nearby hospital, where they are receiving treatment.

Following the crash, the driver was seen stumbling out of the severely damaged vehicle in an intoxicated state. A video that has since gone viral shows him behaving erratically, shouting “Another round, another round!” and chanting “Om Namah Shivay.” Local authorities quickly arrived at the scene and arrested the driver, Rakshit Ravish Chaurasia, a law student at MS University, and his companion, Pranshu Chauhan, who is believed to have been with him at the time of the incident.

The police confirmed that the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. Leena Patil, Joint Commissioner of Police, stated, “This is a case of drunk driving. The accused driver has been caught, and further investigation is underway.”

Authorities are also probing the possibility of narcotics or other substances being involved.
