DRI seizes 25 kg heroin at Bengaluru, Chennai airports, four foreign nationals held

Friday's operation conducted by the air intelligence unit (AIU) along with the DRI led to the seizure of 15 kg of heroin at Chennai airport.

Alert teams of directorate of revenue intelligence (DRI) have seized 25 kg of heroin in two separate operations at Bengaluru and Chennai airports on Thursday and Friday. Four foregin nationals, who tried to smuggle in the narcotic substance into the country taking advantage of the Covid-19 pandemic, have been arrested.

Friday's operation conducted by the air intelligence unit (AIU) along with the DRI led to the seizure of 15 kg of heroin at Chennai airport. DRI officials said the operations were part of heightened alerts and readiness at the DRI to check the activities of international drug gangs to traffic dangerous substances into the country while the authorities were busy fighting the pandemic.
