Draft SIR: Daman & Diu, Dadra & Nagar Haveli record 29.6% deletions
New Delhi: The draft electoral roll of Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli, published on Friday, has recorded a massive 29.6% deletion from pre-SIR roll of 4.28 lakh electors - the highest so far in the ongoing SIR Phase 3, which has seen a deletion rate of 5-6%. Overall, Phases 1 and 2 of SIR did not see any state or UT record a deletion rate of over 17%. In the latest round, Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli have seen 1.26 lakh names deleted following the enumeration phase. Affected persons have time until August 9 to file claims and objections. - OPB
