DPIIT issues guidelines for alternative quality certification pathway for toys, AC, PPE makers
New Delhi: The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) Monday issued guidelines to operationalise a new mechanism under the Transition Facilitation (Quality Control) Order, 2026 in which companies making products such as toys, personal protective equipment, AC and compressors, can seek product quality certification through an alternative compliance pathway.

The DPIIT notified the order on June 25 wherein permissions under the new pathway will be granted on the basis of technical capability, demonstrated compliance history, and commitment towards technology advancement or adoption, development of design and research capabilities, innovation and strengthening domestic supply chain capabilities.
