The Embassy of India in Tehran on Thursday issued a fresh advisory cautioning Indian citizens against travelling to Iran and urging those already in the country to leave at the earliest, citing continued regional tensions and operational uncertainties.
“In view of reports of commencement of some flights between India and Iran… Indian citizens are strongly advised not to travel to Iran, whether by air or land,” the embassy said in its advisory dated April 23, 2026.

The latest warning comes amid a volatile security environment in West Asia, where disruptions to airspace and escalating geopolitical tensions have continued to impact international flight operations to and from Iran.
The advisory noted that “airspace restrictions and operational uncertainties due to regional tensions” remain a key concern.
“It is further reiterated that all Indian nationals currently in Iran should leave the country… strictly in coordination with the Embassy,” the notice said, providing multiple emergency contact numbers and an email helpline for assistance.
