“A passenger on board AI301 (flight) operating from Sydney to Delhi on July 9 behaved in an unacceptable manner during flight, despite verbal and written warnings, causing distress to other passengers, which included one of our staff," the Air India spokesperson told IANS.
Despite the disruption caused by the unruly passenger, the cabin crew allegedly did not use restraining devices to contain him. An Air India spokesperson confirmed the incident.
Upon landing in Delhi, the disruptive passenger was handed over to the security agency, and he later issued a written apology. Air India notified the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) about the incident and expressed its commitment to take a firm stand against such misbehavior, promising to pursue the matter legally.
According to sources, the Air India official was initially assigned seat 30-C but later shifted to 25 ABC. The altercation occurred when he attempted to correct the unruly passenger's loud behavior. As the situation intensified, the cabin crew was unable to control the rowdy passenger, and he reportedly started tampering with emergency equipment.
The male cabin supervisor intervened, issuing verbal and written warnings to the disruptive passenger. Air India aims to address such incidents firmly and ensure the safety and well-being of its passengers and staff.
