Delhi Police have arrested three people, including a woman, for allegedly putting up pro-Khalistan graffiti targeting singer Diljit Dosanjh at two metro stations in the capital ahead of his October 30 concert.

The arrests were made by the Special Cell after messages supporting the banned separatist organisation Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) were found at Jahangirpuri and Shastri Nagar metro stations. Police have alleged that the accused were acting on instructions from an SFJ-linked associate who promised financial rewards for carrying out the activity at prominent locations in Delhi.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Sumeet alias Raftar, Sumit Kumar alias Kaka and Gurpreet, the police said.

Dosanjh performed at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on October 30 as part of his Aura India Tour.

Encrypted app allegedly used to coordinate graffiti

According to the police investigation, Sumit Kumar alias Kaka was allegedly the main instigator and had been contacted by an associate linked to SFJ. He was allegedly asked to download an encrypted messaging application through which he received graffiti templates and an offer of monetary rewards for executing the plan.

Police said Sumit subsequently recruited Gurpreet and Sumeet alias Raftar to carry out the activity. The three allegedly arrived in Delhi on October 28, 2026.

Investigators allege that Sumeet painted the graffiti near Gate No. 1 of Jahangirpuri Metro Station and recorded a video of the act to send to his handlers. Sumit and Gurpreet allegedly defaced the staircase's inner wall at Gate No. 2 of Shastri Nagar Metro Station.

The police also claimed that Sumit had painted similar graffiti near GTK Bypass on October 30, within the jurisdiction of Samaypur Badli police station. This incident is being investigated separately.

Two FIRs registered over defacement

The first instance of graffiti was reported on October 29, when messages appeared on the floor near Gate No. 1 of Jahangirpuri Metro Station. Similar markings were discovered the following day on the inner staircase wall at Shastri Nagar Metro Station.

The messages targeted Dosanjh and expressed support for Khalistan and SFJ. Police said the acts involved defacement of public property and had implications for public order and national integrity.

Two FIRs were registered in connection with the incidents: FIR No. 0011/2026 at Metro Azadpur police station and FIR No. 0010/2026 at Metro NSP police station. The cases have been filed under Section 3 of the Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Public Property Act, 2007, and Section 62(2) of the Metro Railway (Operation and Maintenance) Act, 2002.

The arrests were carried out by a Special Cell team from the Northern Range, led by Inspectors Anukul Panwar and Parveen Kumar under the supervision of ACP Rahul Kumar Singh.
