New Delhi: India is undergoing a digital transformation at the subnational level, with some states building world-class digital ecosystems while others continue to lag, according to a report released by the ICRIER-Prosus Centre for Internet and Digital Economy on Friday. Delhi leads with a digitalisation score of 63.6, followed by Kerala (54.2), Karnataka (51.9), Maharashtra (49.6) and Haryana (48.5). Jharkhand ranks last at 25.1, as per the report titled 'State of India's Digital Economy: A Subnational Perspective'.

"With frontrunner states advancing rapidly while others struggle to keep pace, India risks losing the momentum behind its ambitious Digital Bharat goals," the report said. Ensuring that weaker performers catch up is essential for India's goal of becoming a global digital powerhouse, according to the report.
