Dhiraj Sahu IT Raids: Congress MP's old post on 'black money' viral after recovery of over Rs 335 crore

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders such as Amit Malviya and others slammed Jharkhand Rajya Sabha MP Dhiraj Sahu of Congress for his post on black money after the Income Tax department recovered over Rs 335 crore from a liquor company linked to him.

While sharing an old post of Sahu from 2022, Malviya said that 'the leader has a dark sense of humour.'

"I feel pained seeing so much corruption and black money in the country even after note ban. This is beyond my understanding how people can accumulate so much of black money. Only Congress can uproot corruption from the party," said MP Dhiraj Prasad Sahu in his old post back in 2022.



Not just Malviya, BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla also took to 'X' to share MP's old post. Poonawala also questioned the grand old party about the amount 52 MPs (strength of Congress in Lok Sabha) would have if such a large amount was recovered from just one MP.

Apart from Sahu's old post, the BJP has not stopped its attack on Congress after the raids. Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Amit Shah commented on the issue.

"Countrymen should look at these piles of currency notes and then hear the addresses of its (Congress) leaders on honesty. Every penny looted from people will have to be returned. This is Modi's guarantee," PM Modi said from his official handle.

Reaction of Congress:
The Congress on Saturday distanced itself from its Jharkhand Rajya Sabha MP Dheeraj Sahu after the raids.

"The Indian National Congress is in no way connected with the businesses of Dheeraj Sahu, MP. Only he can explain, and should explain, how huge amounts of cash have been reportedly unearthed by the income-tax authorities from his properties," AICC general secretary Communications Jairam Ramesh said in a post on X.

Jharkhand Health Minister Banna Gupta on Sunday said his party had nothing to do with it.

IT raids at Sahu's properties:
The Income Tax sleuths conducted raids at the premises of Boudh Distilleries Private Limited for five days. The cash seizure in the income-tax department's searches owned by a Congress MP's family, has crossed Rs 335 crore and is the "highest-ever" such haul in a single action conducted by any probe agency in the country, official sources said on Sunday.

The premises of Sahu in Ranchi and other places were also covered during the searches by the department.

Baldev Sahu Infra Pvt Ltd company is a group company of Boudh Distilleries which has been allegedly linked to Sahu. The recovery has given fresh ammunition to the BJP to come out all guns blazing at the Congress on the issue of graft.
