The recent incident caught the attention of Navi Mumbai Police. A video of many passengers stopping their cars and venturing outside on the bridge was circulated online and then reached Navi Mumbai Police.
While responding to the video, Navi Mumbai Police in Marathi said "Thank you for contacting Navi Mumbai Police, your complaint has been forwarded to the concerned Traffic Branch."

However, this recent incident is not new as cases of motorists stopping to take selfies, to enjoy the view, and even venturing into restricted areas have been observed since the inauguration on January 12, 2024.
The Mumbai police issued a warning on social media platform X, stating that it is illegal to stop on the Atal Setu and take photos.
"We agree that Atal Setu is definitely 'worth a watch' but it's also illegal to stop on it & click photos. You will face a FIR if you stop on MTHL," said Mumbai Police in its warning to the passengers on its social media platforms.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri-Nhava Sheva Atal Setu, built at a cost of about Rs 17,840 crore is the longest bridge and also the longest sea bridge in the country. The foundation stone of the bridge was laid by PM Modi in December 2016.
Nearly, 21.8 km-long six-lane bridge having about 16.5 km length over sea and about 5.5 km on land, the bridge is set to provide faster connectivity to Mumbai International Airport and Navi Mumbai International Airport and will also reduce travel time from Mumbai to Pune, Goa and South India. It will also improve connectivity between Mumbai Port and Jawaharlal Nehru Port, the official release said.
