The first phase of the season started on Tuesday with Dev Uthani Ekadasi and will last for 18 days. During this period, approximately 4.5 lakh weddings are expected to take place in Delhi.
"On the auspicious occasion of Dev Uthani Ekadashi, around 50,000 weddings were celebrated in Delhi on Tuesday, marking the beginning of the wedding season, which will continue until Dec 16. The wedding season is set to bring an upswing in trade in sectors like clothing, jewellery, decorations, electronics, furniture, gifts and catering," said CAIT secretary general and Chandni Chowk MP Praveen Khandelwal.
Businesses that provide wedding-related services anticipate increased demand, which could lead to more jobs. The chairman of the Chamber of Trade and Industry, Brijesh Goyal, reported a 40% rise in bookings for venues like banquets, hotels, and restaurants.
