Delhi Weather Today: City wakes up to light rain, AQI stays ‘moderate’; Check full IMD forecast

Parts of Delhi and neighbouring Haryana received rainfall on Saturday morning, easing the unseasonably warm temperatures. The IMD had earlier forecasted "light to moderate rainfall accompanied with moderate thunderstorm and lightning (30-50 km/h gusty winds) at many places in Delhi-NCR, including Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Faridabad." Areas in Haryana such as Sonipat, Rewari, and Palwal also saw heavy showers.

The weather department had also predicted a cloudy sky with rain and thunderstorms for March 1, with temperatures expected to range between 15°C and 28°C.

Unusually Warm February with Record Temperatures

February 2025 has been one of Delhi’s warmest on record. The average maximum temperature reached 26.7°C, surpassing last year’s 24.4°C. The average minimum temperature stood at 11.6°C—the highest February minimum recorded since 2017.

Significantly, February 27 saw the hottest February night in 74 years, with temperatures settling at 19.5°C. Rainfall activity remained lower than last year, with only four rainy days recorded compared to six in 2024.

Delhi’s Current Weather and Air Quality

As of March 1, Delhi recorded a temperature of 22.46°C. The IMD forecasts a minimum temperature of 16.75°C and a maximum of 28.64°C, with humidity at 59% and wind speeds of 59 km/h. The sky remained cloudy, with intermittent rain expected.

The air quality index (AQI) stood at 122, categorised as 'moderate'. The IMD advises children and individuals with respiratory issues to limit prolonged outdoor activities.
