On Tuesday, the temperature went down marginally but is expected to rise from Wednesday. The maximum temperature on Tuesday was 39.9 degrees Celsius, two degrees above normal. It was 41.3 degrees Celsius a day earlier, making it the season's hottest day. The minimum temperature was recorded at 20.9 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal.
The temperature on Wednesday is likely to remain around 40-42 degrees Celsius on Wednesday. "The maximum temperatures are likely to rise over Delhi by 2-3 degrees Celsius during the next five days. Temperatures are likely to remain 41-43 degrees Celsius during April 24-26. It will be above normal by 2-4 degrees Celsius over different parts of Delhi," said IMD.
"Moderate health concern is likely for vulnerable people, including infants, elderly people with chronic diseases," said the Met department, advising people to avoid heat exposure, wear lightweight, light-coloured and loose cotton clothes, cover head, and use a cloth, hat or umbrella.
Delhi witnessed a heatwave earlier in the month from April 7 to 9, with mercury staying above 40 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, Delhi's air quality stayed poor with an AQI of 227. It is likely to remain poor till April 25.
