Delhi Jal Board (DJB) announced a 12-hour water supply disruption in several parts of the national capital on Friday due to maintenance work. The affected areas include Civil Lines, Hindu Rao Hospital, Kamla Nagar, Shakti Nagar, Karol Bagh, Pahar Ganj, Old and New Rajinder Nagar, Patel Nagar (East and West), Baljeet Nagar, Prem Nagar, Inderpuri, and parts of cantonment areas under NDMC and South Delhi.

Reason for Water Supply Disruption

The disruption is due to the repair of a leakage in the 500 mm dia Rising Main at Chandrawal Water Works, situated inside the Dr. Ambedkar National Memorial in Civil Lines. According to DJB’s statement, "Potable water supply from Chandrawal Water Works will remain affected for 12 hours on September 20 from 11 am onwards due to shutdown of Chandrawal Water Work." This maintenance is essential to ensure long-term efficiency and prevent further leakages.

Advisory for Affected Residents

DJB has advised residents in the affected areas to use water judiciously during the maintenance period. The shutdown is expected to impact daily routines, making it important for residents to store water in advance. DJB also mentioned, “Residents of the affected areas are advised to make judicious use of water.”

Water Tankers Available on Demand

To manage the disruption, DJB will provide water tankers on demand. Residents can contact the DJB helpline or the central control room to request water supply through tankers during the maintenance hours. This measure aims to mitigate the inconvenience caused by the supply stoppage.

The scheduled maintenance highlights the need for regular infrastructure upgrades to maintain efficient water supply systems. The DJB’s efforts to address the leakage at Chandrawal Water Works underline its commitment to maintaining water service quality in Delhi. Residents are urged to stay informed and take necessary precautions to minimize the impact of the supply disruption.
