Delhi traffic alert: Dhaula Kuan to Mayapuri road to be closed for 20 days. Check dates, route diversions, advisory for those going to airport, railway stations

Starting from May 2nd, 2024, the section of the Naraina Flyover's carriageway extending from Dhaula Kuan to Mayapuri will be inaccessible to commuters due to necessary repair work. Originally, this closure was scheduled to begin on May 1st. However, at the behest of the repairing agency acting on behalf of the Public Works Department (PWD), the commencement date has been shifted to May 2nd, 2024. This closure will be in force for 20 days. However, during this period, the opposite road extending from Mayapuri to Dhaula Kuan, which will remain operational.

Delhi traffic restrictions/diversions

Commuters traveling from Dhaula Kuan heading towards Mayapuri are urged to consider the following alternate routes:

Route 1: Commuters can opt to take Vande Matram Marg from Dhaula Kuan, make a left turn onto Prof. Ramnath Viz. Marg, then another left at Rattanpuri Chowk onto Dev Prakash Shastri Marg. After that, turn left at the Loha Mandi T-Point onto Goswami Girdhari Lal Marg, and finally, make a right turn at the Naraina T-Point onto Ring Road leading to Mayapuri.


Route 2: Alternatively, commuters can choose to travel via Cariappa Marg from Dhaula Kuan, then proceed on Shaheed Bhagat Singh Marg (Jail Road) until reaching Lajwanti Chowk. From there, make a right turn onto Satguru Ram Singh Marg, which leads to Mayapuri Chowk on Ring Road.

Route 3: Another option is to take Maude Marg from Delhi Cantt Metro Station, make a right turn onto Cariappa Marg, then continue onto
Shaheed Bhagat Singh Marg (Jail Road) until Lajwanti Chowk. From there, turn right onto Satguru Ram Singh Marg, leading to Mayapuri Chowk on Ring Road.

Additionally, the general public is advised to refrain from roadside parking as it disrupts the smooth flow of traffic. It's recommended to plan journeys in advance, especially when heading to hospitals, ISBTs, railway stations, or the airport.

Commuters are encouraged to cooperate by avoiding the affected roads and utilizing public transportation whenever possible to ensure a comfortable travel experience for all.
