Republic Day Parade Traffic Advisory 2024: As the nation prepares for the grand Republic Day celebrations in the capital, the Delhi Police has issued a traffic advisory outlining arrangements and restrictions to ensure a smooth flow of events. The Republic Day parade, scheduled to commence at 10.30 am from Vijay Chowk and proceed towards the Red Fort grounds, will prompt several traffic adjustments along its route.

Key points from the Delhi Police traffic advisory for Republic Day Parade 2024

Kartavya Path Closure: Starting from 6 pm on Wednesday, Kartavya Path from Vijay Chowk to India Gate will be closed to all traffic until the parade concludes. Additionally, cross-traffic on Kartavya Path at Rafi Marg, Janpath, Man Singh Road will be restricted from 10 pm on Wednesday until the parade concludes.

Republic Day Parade Route: The parade route encompasses Vijay Chowk, Kartavya Path, C-Hexagon, Subhas Chandra Bose roundabout, Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Netaji Subhas Marg, and Red Fort.


R-Day Traffic Restrictions: Specific traffic closures include C-Hexagon to India Gate from 9:15 am on Thursday until the parade crosses Tilak Marg. From 10:30 am on Thursday, traffic on Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, and Netaji Subhas Marg will be restricted, with cross-traffic permitted based on the parade's movement.

Republic Day Alternative Routes: Alternative routes are suggested for commuters, such as the route from Madarsa, Lodhi Road T-point via Aurobindo Marg, AIIMS Chowk, Ring Road-Dhaula Kuan, Vande Matram Marg, and Shankar Road to reach Mandir Marg.


For those travelling to New Delhi railway station from south Delhi, routes through Dhaula Kuan, Vande Matram Marg, Panchkuian Road, Connaught Place Outer Circle, Chelmsford Road, Paharganj side, and Minto Road and Bhavbhuti Marg for the Ajmeri Gate side are recommended.

Various alternative routes are outlined for commuters from east Delhi and south Delhi heading to Old Delhi railway station.

"From east Delhi, they can take Boulevard Road via ISBT bridge, the Rani Jhansi flyover, the Jhandewalan roundabout, DB Gupta Road, Sheela Cinema Road and the Paharganj bridge," the advisory said.

To travel to Old Delhi railway station from south Delhi, the advisory has outlined Ring Road, Ashram Chowk, Sarai Kale Khan, Rajghat, Chowk Yamuna Bazar, SP Mukherjee Marg, Chhatta Rail and the Kauria bridge.

Republic Day Inter-State Buses and Heavy Transport: Inter-state buses from Ghaziabad bound for Shivaji Stadium are instructed to follow a route that includes National Highway-24, the Ring Road, and conclude their journey at Bhairon Road. Buses arriving from National Highway-24 are directed to make a right turn onto Road No 56 and conclude their route at ISBT-Anand Vihar. For buses destined for Wazirabad Bridge from Ghaziabad, a diversion at Mohan Nagar towards Bhopra Chungi is advised.

Starting from 11 pm on Thursday until the conclusion of the parade, heavy transport and light goods vehicles from other states are barred from entering Delhi. However, these vehicles are granted limited access between ISBT-Sarai Kale Khan and ISBT-Kashmere Gate on the Ring Road only during the hours of 7:30 am to 1:30 pm on Friday, according to the advisory.

It is advisable for residents and commuters to plan their journeys accordingly, use public transport, and stay updated with the latest traffic updates during the Republic Day celebrations.
