Delhi to have first night-life street food market at this location from next month
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is preparing to launch Delhi's first night-life street food market near Salimgarh Fort within two weeks. The market will host 50 vendors at a time, offering popular street food from 6 pm to 10 pm.

The civic body has received nearly 300 applications for participation. "We have received nearly 300 applications. The department is holding meetings with vendors to tell them about the project requirements," said an official. Only 50 vendors will be allowed at a time, operating between 6 pm and 10 pm. The MCD has also allocated parking space for vehicles in anticipation of large crowds.
Basic amenities such as drinking water, streetlights, and floodlights will be provided. The official added, "This road belongs to PWD, and we are seeking their help in getting the street ready for the food carts."
Encroachments at the site were cleared in May 2023 after the project was first proposed following the Lieutenant Governor’s visit.
"If the model is successful, it can be replicated in other parts of the city to showcase the range of city's street foods," the official said. The civic body noted that permanent structures cannot be developed at the site as it is located next to the Red Fort and Salimgarh Fort.
