Delhi reports less than 100 Covid cases, positivity rate dips to 0.88 per cent

Delhi reported less than 100 cases for the first time after many months. The national capital recorded 89 new Covid-19 cases and one death in the last 24 hours.

The positivity rate of the national capital dipped to 0.88 per cent, according to the Delhi Health Bulletin, which stated there are 516 active cases of Covid-19 in the city.

According to the Delhi government health bulletin, the total count of positive cases has gone up to 2002357.

Cases in Delhi started to see an uptick once again in July. On July 30, the count was 1,333 and the positivity rate was 8.39%, according to the government’s daily health bulletin.

Experts however say we have to be “watchful till December at least," said NK Arora, chairman of the Covid-19 working group of the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (NTAGI).

He said Omicron sub-lineages which have so far been detected have not led to any significant upsurge.

Since the emergence of the Omicron variant in January this year, this was the third time that cases had started to go up. Prior to this, an uptick had been seen towards the end of April to early May, and then in mid-June. Experts say fluctuation in count will continue.
