In response to the escalating air pollution in Delhi, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has implemented Stage III of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). This stage incorporates the restrictions from Stages I and II as well. One of the key measures in this phase is the prohibition of old diesel buses, which have been identified as a major contributor to the pollution levels. Additionally, BS-III and BS-IV cars, SUVs, and light motor vehicles are not allowed on Delhi roads until the air quality improves.

The CAQM has also imposed further constraints, including limitations on construction activities and the use of diesel generators. However, exemptions have been made for essential services. The Commission stated, "Considering the current air quality trend and to prevent further deterioration, the CAQM has decided to implement all actions outlined in Stage III of the GRAP - 'Severe' Air Quality (DELHI AQI ranging between 401-450) - with immediate effect, in addition to the already existing Stage I and II actions. All relevant agencies in the NCR are expected to comply earnestly."



Under these restrictions, stone crushers, mining operations, and associated activities in the NCR will be closed down. Furthermore, there will be a strict ban on construction and demolition activities throughout the entire NCR, with certain exceptions for specific projects.

If you own a BS-III petrol or BS-IV car, please note that you are not permitted to drive your vehicle in Delhi and the NCR, including Gurugram, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, and Gautam Buddh Nagar. The government has also encouraged people to avoid using personal vehicles and instead promote the use of public transport. To facilitate this, the frequency of public transport will be increased, and concessional rates will be introduced.
