Amidst deteriorating air quality, the Delhi Government's Directorate of Education (DOE) on Friday decided to ban all zonal sports tournaments and events in the capital.

The Delhi Government's Directorate of Education (DOE) stated that in accordance with the CAQM order regarding the implementation of GRAP-III and with the health and safety of Delhi students and children in mind due to low air quality, all Zonal sports tournaments and Delhi State School Games or events are suspended with immediate effect until further orders.

Delhi's air quality dropped to the "severe plus" category on Friday morning after the city’s air quality index (AQI) rose from 351 at 10 am on Thursday to 471 at 9 am on Friday.
