The deceased's body was recovered wrapped in a cloth from near an MCD toilet approximately 100 meters from his house. According to TOI reports, the body contained cigarette burns, bite marks, and signs of heavy blows to his face.
Family members, alleging the police of callous response to the matter, on Sunday blockaded the New Rohtak Road in protest and demanded proper investigation into the incident. The family believes the murder might have been a part of a robbery as the silver jewellery the child was wearing was found missing on recovery of the body. The members' protest was dispersed by senior police officials after an hour's persuasion, after which the family vacated the road.
According to the family, the child went missing around 7.30 pm on Saturday evening while playing in front of their house. After efforts to find him turned futile, family members registered a missing person's case with the police on the same evening. However, the police's all night search also turned up no traces of the missing boy.
The police are also probing angles of any personal vendetta the perpetrator might have had against the family.
