According to a letter reportedly addressed to ticketing platform BookMyShow by the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, South Delhi, the request could not be approved because of threat-related inputs, security requirements during the festive season and other law and order concerns.
The decision comes as fans in the national capital were looking forward to watching the Punjabi singer perform live. Further details about the impact on the tour schedule were not immediately available.
The Delhi concert was originally set for November 1. BookMyShow later moved it to October 30 and said all existing tickets would remain valid for the new date.
Tickets went on sale on BookMyShow, with a RuPay credit card pre-sale from October 6 and general sale from October 9. The tour is co-produced and promoted by BookMyShow Live and Live Nation.
Dosanjh is expected to perform songs such as “G.O.A.T.”, “Ikk Kudi”, “Lalkara”, “Lover”, “5 Taara”, “Case” and “Water”, according to the tour announcement.
The tour covers seven cities over six weeks. After Delhi, Dosanjh is scheduled to perform in Indore on November 15, Ahmedabad on November 21, Mumbai, Bengaluru on November 29 and Lucknow on December 5.
The India leg follows his Aura World Tour, which has taken him across the US, Canada, the UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Dosanjh has performed at major venues across the world, including Madison Square Garden in New York and Wembley Stadium in London. He also became the first Punjabi artiste to headline and sell out Wembley Stadium.
In a statement announcing the tour, Dosanjh had said he was excited to meet fans in cities across the country once again.
