“If waving our Indian flag is crime then I am ready to face jail. If you have guts arrest me from here,” the party said in a post on X, adding that Dipke was not afraid of PM Narendra Modi.
“When did waving Indian flag become a crime?” the post said.
Dipke also questioned why Delhi Police should decide who could raise the national flag, saying that every citizen should be able to do so.
“Should we now take permission even for waiving the Tricolour from Delhi Police?” he asked, adding that the national flag did not belong to the police.
The remarks came ahead of CJP’s ‘Lehra do Tiranga’ march, announced for Friday at 5 pm at Central Park in Connaught Place.
Dipke had urged supporters to gather with the national flag, maintaining that waving the Tricolour was not a crime.
The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) announced that Central Park would remain closed to the public on October 16 and 17, citing administrative reasons.
Delhi Police also imposed prohibitory orders in Connaught Place and surrounding areas, citing law-and-order concerns.
