Delhi police personnel conduct an investigation at the site of the car blast near Red Fort, in New Delhi.
In the wake of the November 10 car blast near Delhi’s Red Fort, state police on Thursday issued a public advisory urging all passengers to arrive well in advance at railway stations, metro stations, and the airport.

According to the advisory, rail passengers should reach stations at least one hour before departure, metro commuters are advised to arrive 20 minutes early, and air travellers should reach the airport three hours before international flights. The measures are aimed at facilitating stringent security checks amid the tightened vigil at all major transport hubs.

“The advisory has been issued to ensure smooth security checks, avoid last-minute inconvenience, and facilitate timely boarding amid the intensified security measures in and around major railway stations, metro stations and airport of Delhi,” said Joint Commissioner of Police Milind Dumbre.

The precautionary measures come amid continuing investigations into the car explosion near the Red Fort’s Lahori Gate on the evening of November 10, which left seven people dead and several injured. The blast, which occurred in one of the most secure and heavily patrolled areas of the capital, triggered a massive response from Delhi Police, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), and central intelligence units.

The central government formally categorised the incident as a terrorist attack through a Union Cabinet Resolution on Wednesday, citing evidence of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and possible links to Pakistan-based terror networks.

The Cabinet, chaired by PM Modi, called for the investigation to be pursued “with utmost urgency and professionalism” and reaffirmed the government’s zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism.
