Delhi-NCR receives heavy rainfall, IMD issues red alert

"Moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied with moderate thunderstorm and lightning is very likely to occur at entire Delhi and NCR, during next 2 hours," IMD said on X.
IMD Delhi Weather Prediction:
According to IMD's Automatic Weather Station (AWS) network, the Pragati Maidan observatory in central Delhi recorded 112.5 mm of rainfall in one hour.Read More: Delhi Weather Live Updates
The weather department has predicted that the rains will persist till August 5 across all four NCR regions and parts of Haryana.
Delhi airport diverted 10 flights between 7:30 pm and 8:00 pm due to the rains, reported ANI.

This comes amid recent incident of water logging in a coaching institute's basement that claimed the lives of three students. The MCD and Delhi government are taking measures to avoid such incidents in the future.
Educational institutions have been given guidelines to follow certain rules. The government has also said that it would issue further instructions on operations of coaching centres and institutions.
