Delhi murder: Aaftab had another woman over while Shraddha's body parts were in fridge

Aaftab Poonawala brought another woman to his apartment in Delhi's Mehrauli days after he allegedly killed live-in partner Shraddha Walkar and stored her body parts in a fridge, television reports said Tuesday.

A report on NDTV quoting police sources said that Aaftab met another woman on a dating app 15-20 days after he allegedly murdered Shraddha and started dating her.

The report also said he brought the new girlfriend home frequently, and that on those days he shifted the frozen body parts from the fridge to a cupboard.


Aaftab Poonawala and Aaftab Poonawala met on the dating app Bumble while in Mumbai, and then were in a live-in relationship for three years before shifting to Delhi earlier this year.

According to the investigation in the murder case, Aaftab strangled Shraddha after an argument on May 18, sawed her body in 35 parts and stored them in a big 300-litre fridge he bought for the purpose.

He then allegedly proceeded to scatter the body parts one by one in the nearby Mehrauli forest area, moving out in the dead of the night to avoid alerting neighbours.

Aaftab had studied hotel management and worked as a chef a few years ago. He had undergone a two-week training on how to cut meat, which he used to chop Shraddha's body.

"He cut her body for two days," PTI quoted an official as saying.

Police said Aaftab would pack the refrigerator's deep freezer with the pieces and put the remaining ones in the bottom tray. After some time, he would take the frozen pieces out to deep freeze those kept in the tray.

Police are probing how mny other women he brought over to the apartment while the body parts were still in the fridge.
