Delhi Master Plan 2041 to focus on affordable housing

Delhi’s Master Plan 2041 will include parking management and congestion pricing, freight and logistic movement, creation of affordable housing and supporting infrastructure for contract and freelance workers, according to the Delhi Development Authority (DDA).

DDA has prepared the draft Master Plan- MPD 2041 as per the provisions of Delhi Development Act 1957.

The MPD 2041 is a ‘strategic’ and ‘enabling’ framework to guide future growth of the city and it builds upon the lessons learnt from the implementation of the previous plans of 1962, 2001 and 2021, DDA said.


The first meeting of Advisory Council for MPD 2041 was held on March 26, and the second meeting was held on March 31, where about 18 members representing various stakeholders participated.

“Four sections comprising 12 chapters of the Draft MPD 2041 which include heritage, culture and public spaces, shelter and social Infrastructure, transport and mobility and physical infrastructure (water, solid waste, power, gas, tele-communication and disaster management) were discussed. The members gave suggestions such as enhancing circular economy, significance of cultural heritage and explore economic viability by recognizing the role of PPP in all sectors,” DDA said in a statement.

The members also highlighted to prepare safe neighborhood guidelines, and to explore the establishing of a unified body for“Business/ Economic Bureau” and to facilitate digitalinfrastructure through a unified command center.
