A senior police officer told news wire agency PTI that the victim, originally from Darjeeling, had established contact with the accused, Paras, over the phone and had been in communication with him for the past 3-4 months, leading to their friendship.

The victim, who had secured a job as a housemaid in Bengaluru and was en route via Delhi, decided to halt and meet Paras, who extended an invitation to stay with him, offering assistance in finding employment. Trusting his assurances, she accepted the invitation, residing with him in the rented accommodation in Raju Park.
