Delhi's rainy spell is far from over, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting a week full of showers. On August 12, 2024, the national capital experienced light rain, with the maximum temperature recorded at 32°C and the minimum at 24.8°C.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board, Delhi's air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 53 this morning, placing it in the "satisfactory" category. The AQI scale ranges from "good" (0-50) to "severe" (401-500), with "satisfactory" (51-100) indicating that air quality poses little or no risk.

Throughout the week, Delhi is expected to witness generally cloudy skies accompanied by light to moderate rain, thundershowers, and occasional lightning, as forecasted by the IMD.

Delhi Rain

In light of the continuing wet weather, the IMD has issued an advisory urging Delhiites to remain indoors, secure their windows and doors, and avoid unnecessary travel. "Seeking safe shelter and avoiding tree cover are recommended to mitigate risks," the advisory warned.

Adding to the challenges brought by the persistent rain, Delhi Traffic Police have reported traffic disruptions due to waterlogging in various areas.

Earlier, commuters were advised to avoid stretches like the Najafgarh-Phirni Road near Dhansa Stand and Bahadurgarh Stand, where traffic was significantly affected.

In a post shared on X, the police also highlighted a severe water logging issue on Najafgarh Phirni Road, compounded by the breakdown of three cluster buses near Chhawla Stand, leading to further traffic disruptions. Drivers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and stay updated on traffic conditions.

With more rain expected in the coming days, residents are urged to take necessary precautions and stay safe amidst the ongoing weather conditions.
