The Delhi High Court on Saturday ordered to take down all videos or audios of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s personal address to the court from all social media platforms.

A division bench of Justice Neena Bansal Krishna and Amit Sharma issued the order against several people for allegedly violating video conferencing rules. The order came after a public-interest litigation was filed before the court, TOI reported.

"Social media platforms, namely X (formerly Twitter), Meta (formerly Facebook), Instagram and YouTube are hereby directed to remove forthwith the audio/video recording from their respective platforms," the bench ordered.

The court also directed the platforms to see to it that the videos and audios are not reuploaded

The court said that the videos and audios breached rule 3 (vi) of the Delhi High Court Video Conferencing Rules, 2021. This meant that the videos could not remain in the public domain.

Next hearing of the case has been scheduled for July 9.

The PIL filed by lawyer Vaibhav Singh has alleged that several members of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had deliberately recorded clips from the March 28 hearing where Kejriwal gave his statement to the court for ten minutes. Singh accused the party members of maligning and manipulating court proceedings.

Singh had filed a complaint with X, Meta, YouTube, and Instagram, providing them with the URLs of posts required to be taken down. YouTube responded saying the video did not breach community guidelines, while other platforms did not respond.

Kejriwal was arrested on March 21 in connection to the Delhi liquor policy case. He is accused of money laundering.
