Delhi HC seeks Centre's response on SOP for protests after traders claim ₹2,000 crore in business losses due to restrictions in the capital.

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Tuesday sought the Centre's response to a petition by lawyers and traders' associations seeking a standard operating procedure (SOP) to regulate protests at designated sites in the national capital.

The traders have claimed that barricades and other restrictions imposed during protests demanding the resignation of CEC Gyanesh Kumar cost them ₹2,000 crore in business.

Seeking guidelines and an SOP to regulate demonstrations, traders and lawyers, senior counsel Sachin Puri told the high court that the ongoing protests were severely affecting businesses in Delhi, particularly during the festive season.
