Delhi: Hallmark on nose pin helps police identify murdered woman, husband arrested

A property dealer was arrested along with a domestic worker for allegedly murdering his wife in Delhi' Dwarka. The couple shared a troubled relationship and used to argue often, according to a TOI report.

According to the police, the victim was strangled, wrapped in a bedsheet and thrown into a drain with stone boulders placed on top.

The hallmark on her nose pin helped the police identify her as Seema (47). Her husband, Anil, and his servant, Shiv Shankar, were nabbed.


"On March 15, police received a call around 4 pm regarding the body of a female lying in the Najafgarh drain near Nirmal Dham. She was identified later with the help of the hallmark on her nose pin, which was purchased from a showroom in south Delhi. When the cops visited the showroom, they found that the woman's name was listed as Seema Singh, with billing details also showing the name of her husband, Anil Kumar," an officer said.

Police said Kumar had attempted to deceive his in-laws and informed them that the couple was in Jaipur on a vacation and that Seema was unwell. He promised them that she would speak with them once her health improved. After this misinformation persisted for several days, the family approached police. When confronted, Kumar told the cops that his wife had gone to Vrindavan.

Further investigation revealed that Seema's life was cut short on March 11, when a heated argument escalated and turned ugly at her residence in Chhawla.

Following the gruesome act, the accused took deliberate steps to conceal their crime. "After killing her, they wrapped Seema's body in a bedsheet, securing it with a cable wire, and callously discarded it in the drain," the officer said.

Cops are probing whether more people were involved in the act.
