Delhi gets relief from heat as IMD forecasts rain and thunderstorms over weekend

Residents of the national capital woke up to relatively pleasant weather on Saturday, with the minimum temperature settling at 26.4 degrees Celsius, 1.2 degrees below the seasonal average, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The weather office has forecast thunderstorms accompanied by rain over the weekend, offering further respite from the summer heat. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 36 degrees Celsius on both Saturday and Sunday.

Relative humidity stood at 60% at 8:30 a.m., the IMD said.

Meanwhile, Delhi's air quality remained in the "moderate" category on Saturday morning. Data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) showed the Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 162 at 9 a.m.

According to the CPCB, an AQI reading between 0 and 50 is classified as "good", 51-100 as "satisfactory", 101-200 as "moderate", 201-300 as "poor", 301-400 as "very poor", and 401-500 as "severe".
