She hoped that the global community would grant this honour to India which would organise the sports extravaganza with full dedication.
Gupta was talking to reporters after flagging off, along with Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, the Olympic Day Run from JLN Stadium here.
Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President P T Usha was also present at the event.
The Olympic Day Run in Delhi brought immense joy, as thousands of residents participated enthusiastically, Gupta told reporters.
"Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country is continuously progressing towards better sports infrastructure and facilities for athletes. Delhi and the entire country are fully prepared to host the 2036 Olympic Games," she said.
In January 2025, Prime Minister Modi said his government is putting all its might behind the ambitious bid to bag the hosting rights of 2036 Olympics.
The prime minister had expressed India's intention to host the 2036 Olympic Games during the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) Session in Mumbai in 2023. The Indian Olympic Association has submitted the official letter of intent to the IOC.
Countries like Qatar, and Saudi Arabia are also in the running for the 2036 hosting rights.
