A fire broke out in one of the rooms of the Revenue Building in ITO here on Friday, an official said.

No casualties were reported in the incident, according to the Delhi Fire Services.

The fire was reported at around 10 am from room no. 238 on the second floor of the building.


7 fire tenders were rushed to the spot, and the flames were brought under control.

The DFS further stated that the fire started in the office of Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer B V Gerangal. Fire officials received immediate reports of the incident on call.

"Due to the important location, we rushed seven fire tenders to the spot to douse the flames immediately," another fire official said on condition of anonymity.

He added that it took less than 20 minutes to completely douse the fire, which was caused by malfunctioning air conditioning cables.

Although some electronic devices and official documents were damaged in the fire, the room was evacuated, along with nearby rooms, he said, adding that the authorities have notified the police for further investigation.
