Before the rain, Delhi experienced a particularly hot and humid day on Monday, with temperatures peaking at 35.6 degrees Celsius and humidity levels ranging between 67% and 87%. The IMD has issued an orange alert for the Delhi and southwest NCR regions, warning of moderate to intense rainfall, especially in Central and East Delhi. The forecast predicts light rain will continue until Saturday, with intermittent moderate spells. Delhi Weather: Widespread Waterlogging and Traffic Disruptions
The heavy rainfall caused extensive waterlogging in several parts of Delhi, leading to major traffic disruptions. One notable incident occurred on Minto Road, where an autorickshaw was found partially submerged due to the downpour. In response to the waterlogged roads, the Delhi traffic police issued multiple traffic advisories and diversions to help manage the flow of vehicles. Key routes like Rohtak Road, Connaught Place outer circle, Minto Road, and ITO Chowk were affected, with alternate routes being suggested to commuters. Delhi Weather Watch: Orange and Yellow Alerts
While an orange alert remains in place for parts of Delhi, the IMD has also issued a yellow alert for other regions in the NCR, including Northwest, Northeast, and Southeast areas.
