Delhi extends lockdown for one more week till May 24

Delhi government has extended the lockdown in the national capital for one more week.

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal announced that lockdown will be in place till 5 am on May 24.

He said that the situation is improving in Delhi and the gains made so far cannot be lost.


This is the fourth extension to the lockdown that was announced on April 19 to contain the rapidly spreading Covid wave.

Test positivity rate in Delhi has dipped to 11 per cent while new cases have shown a steep drop to around 6,500 per day.

Neighbouring Haryana and Uttar Pradesh have also extended restrictions by one more week.

India reported 3.11 lakh fresh cases on Sunday while the death toll stood at 4,077.

A number of states like Bihar, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Nagaland and the Union Territories of Delhi and Puducherry have imposed lockdown or some form of restrictions to deal with the prevailing situation.
