Delhi conducts two cloud seeding trials with IIT Kanpur; 8 flares fired, rain expected soon
The first and second cloud seeding trial in Delhi was successfully conducted by IIT Kanpur using a Cessna aircraft. Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said eight flares, weighing 2–2.5 kg each, were fired over Khekra, Burari, North Karol Bagh, and Mayur Vihar. Clouds had 15–20% humidity, and the process lasted about half an hour. A third trial is planned too and 9–10 sorties daily are expected as weather permits. If successful, this initiative could lead to a long-term plan for rainfall enhancement in Delhi.
