Delhi: Car falls off flyover and onto railway tracks, halts trains near Haiderpur Metro for an hour

Police said the 35-year-old driver, a bakery owner from Pratap Vihar Railway Colony in Ghaziabad, lost control of the vehicle while travelling from Peera Garhi towards Ghaziabad.
“The car struck the pavement on Ring Road, broke through the boundary wall, slid down the slope and landed inverted on the tracks,” a senior officer told TOI. The driver suffered minor abrasions and told officers he had veered off the road after losing control. Authorities are awaiting medical reports to confirm whether he was intoxicated at the time.
Meanwhile, in a separate discovery, police also found an abandoned motorcycle near the same railway stretch on Saturday. Investigators suspect it may have fallen from the flyover earlier, though no complaint has been lodged about the vehicle.
Officials confirmed to TOI that the two incidents were unrelated.
Chunnilal, a guard deployed nearby, described how locals helped avert a possible tragedy.
“A train was expected from Panipat towards Ghaziabad. Someone removed his red T-shirt and waved it to signal the driver to stop. Together, we pulled the car clear of the tracks,” he added to TOI.
Eyewitnesses further said that the driver managed to crawl out of the wreck before help arrived.
