Dehradun: Senior Airport Authority official found hanging with dupatta, wearing maxi, bindi, lipstick, and bangles

A senior official of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) was discovered deceased in his official accommodation at the Dehradun airport on Monday, under circumstances that have raised questions among colleagues and authorities, a TOI report stated. The identity of the official is being withheld.

According to SSP (Udham Singh Nagar) Manjunath TC, the official was found hanging from a ceiling fan in his bedroom. He was dressed in women's attire, including a maxi, undergarments, bindi, lipstick, and bangles. His wife, who is a teacher, was reportedly away in Pithoragarh at the time of the incident.

"Relatives and colleagues forced open the official's bedroom door to find him hanging," said SSP Manjunath TC. "He was taken to a hospital where doctors declared him 'dead on arrival'. There was no sign of forced entry in the room, which was locked from inside. There were no signs of physical assault either."


The investigation revealed that the official had spent the previous night with two relatives who were staying in another room. They had dinner together on Sunday and had plans to visit a nearby mango orchard the next morning. However, when the official did not respond to calls and did not wake up as expected, his colleagues were alerted.

"We're probing why he was in women's attire," stated a police officer involved in the investigation. SP (city) Manoj Katyal confirmed that the police are questioning the two relatives and colleagues of the deceased. "We have seized his mobile phone for a cyber forensic examination," he added. "His seniors and colleagues have described him as an outstanding professional who was never involved in any misconduct. The exact cause of his death will be determined after we receive the postmortem report. We are considering all possibilities at this stage."

The investigation into this tragic incident continues as authorities seek to uncover the circumstances surrounding the official's untimely demise.
